Madeleine Thornhill

Madeleine came to Sale in 1966 commencing work in the Maternity unit. She had always had a love of teaching so when an opportunity to work in the School of Nursing arose, Madeleine took it up becoming both Tutor sister and Mentor to many student nurses.
Madeleine’s teaching method included many of delightful stories that enabled her students nurses to learn their art of nursing. Madeleine also accompanied many students into the wards to assist in their practical skills development.
Madeleine was very proud of the professional nurses she tutored. She continued to work in The School of Nursing until the 1990’s when in-hospital nurse training was phased out in Victoria.
